The USA spends nearly 700 billion dollars annually on the military and only 3 billion on the FDA (and Bush wanted to cut that even lower). This is a good point, but I'm not sure it's necessary the amount of money thrown at the FDA that will fix it: rather, the entire organization needs to be completely overhauled. $3 billion to the FDA is a big chunk of cash, but all they do is give blanket approvals to pharma and unhealthy foods. Where is the safety regulation?
