Wow, that’s a complicated title, we will explain; David Brooks certainly is as educated as they come, and has earned his magnificent piece of journalism real estate on a regular Op Ed column in the New York Times. But he is still the master of the not as far right, of the complete sentence as opposed to the complete truth. A flash backward is in order; there used to be a singing group called “Tom & Jerry” and they had a song called “Hey School Girl” and they had a t-shirt that stated they were 300 something on the hit parade, and their motto was; nowhere to go but up. Now, flash forward; Mr. Brooks points out that Iraq has the twelfth fastest growing economy in the world and is expected to grow at “7% for the next several years”, yah but again, think of this school girl situation, nowhere to go but up. After our 2003 campaign of Shock and Awe or based on what Halliburton and others did, Schlock and Claw, Iraq had nowhere to go but up. We certainly wish them well, but again, put a complete truth with that complete sentence; look how far down they are and as their economic development hopefully grows, could that include 24 hour electricity that most countries in the world have and actually what they used to have.

PLAGIARIZING IN ADVANCE; UPDATE

As you in Fauxnation know, over the years we have successfully plagiarized the work of others, and we feel its even a greater compliment to them when we do it in advance. Here we go again; A cartoon in the NY Times week in review written by Mike Peters (Dayton Daily News) shows a scene in a school where early schoolers are being taught to use the verb "sacks" (as in looting and pillaging) in a sentence. The kids response? Goldman Sachs. Now, several times over the last year we have been calling them "Goldman Sachs and Blunders" so we extend to Mr. Peters an apology as we do to all those to whom we have committed this crime (including but not limited to Maureen Dowd, Cynthia Tucker, David Brooks and Thomas Friedman).

TO THE TOWER OF BABBLE; STAY OUT OF ARMS WAY

David Brooks (who we call “The Tower of Babble”) is at it again with his nuanced obsession about all things that he thinks relates to Democrats and liberals. The latest, we’re told by Maureen Dowd in her recent NY Times column, is Brooks obsession with Michelle Obama’s arms. Yes, he says her biceps are to cut and she should stay away from sleeveless dresses.
David, is that the focus of your economic recovery plan, worrying about how well “armed” the first lady is? Please. You didn’t complain when Arnold Schwarzenegger (who is now begging for a bit of stimulus) called the Democrats “economic girlie men”, so don’t be upset when you have a womanly woman who is first lady, likes the job and does the job, and enhances the job. Sleeveless women…what will the Democrats think of next? Would you feel better if we had that all-American (and 7 time draft deffering) hero John Ashcroft back to stop us from having marble statues with women’s breasts exposed?

IF IT SAINTS BROKE, DO FIX IT

Republican’s problems (as many are pointing out) is that they don’t dare cross paths with the orthodoxy of the “sainted” Ronald Reagan. He may have been “sainted” in terms of economic polices in the 1980’s (he actually caused a great recession and our first great deficit), but even David Brooks (who we have called the “Tower of Babble”) has said that in todays world the Reagan policies would be considered “insane”, something that we regard as a negative. So we say to conservatives who keep looking back to Reagan; If the saints broke, do fix it!

THE BROOKS OF BABBLE-ON

David Brooks is in his own way "streaming" again. Lest we forget, Mr. Brooks was briefly for Al Gore, before he endorsed his Republican opponent as more fiscally responsible among other things. George W. Bush more responsible? Anyway in 2004 he was impressed by the "veteran" presence at the Democratic Convention and was for Mr. Kerry before he was against him, but then even by Swift boat standards the Brooks flowed in another direction rather quickly. In fact one of his primary reasons for switching (within 24 hours) on Mr. Kerry was that he flip-flopped...OK.

This past year Mr. Brooks was favorably impressed by Senator Obama (briefly, of course), leaned a bit towards Senator Clinton but is now for Senator McCain. Are you folks surprised yet?

With that as background we need to appreciate (and read) quickly Mr. Brooks' glowing end assessment of Joe Biden for Barack Obama's possible VP choice. We at the Faux can't argue with a simple reason given for extolling Mr. Biden's word and capability and predict it will take David Brooks at least several days to reverse himself should Senator Biden actually be the Democratic VP nominee. Oh, rumor has it that Fox News has signed up Joe Lieberman as their senior core loyalty reversal expert. Joe, Dave-you should study together.

BROOKS BABBLE UPDATE

Due to Shabbos, our prediction on Joe Biden was published after the Obama campaign announced it. We're glad on all levels, smart choice, smart man.
