ORNAMENTAL ARGUMENTS

The Obama administration has been "caught" sending ornaments from previous administrations to school children. And it gets worse; they were red and gold, and the children had to decorate them however they want. The Obama administartion has been accused of "brainwashing" because the only way to really wash a brain thoroughly is letting people do what they want and think on their own, a real cleansing. No worries, however...the right jumped in to save the day. The pointed out the flaws in this Obama scheme. Obviously, letting kids do what they want is brainwashing, and teachers have to drive with these ornaments in their cars which puts them at risk, and yet even more fascinating; in an interview with Samantha Bee, a Republican critic said that due a socialist Obama policy EVERYBODY is getting a present at Christmas time. When Samatha Bee pointed out that Jews have Chanukah, this critic said agreed adding "sure, all 12 days of Jewish Chanukah". You cant make these people up, but sometimes you wish they were made up. Intellectually, these people are kind of ornamental.

JASON AND THE GOLDEN EASE

There is a baseball player named Jason Marquis who has quite a career and record. He is literally the "golden fleece" of winning with a seeming "golden ease" wherever he has gone. Consider this; he has been in MLB for 10 years, and every single year his team has made the playoffs (Braves, Cardinals, Cubs and Rockies). He is a 31 year old free agent from Staten Island, who plans to go back there when he retires. Additionally, consider this; over the last 6 seasons he has won 11 or more games, and he celebrates both christmas and Hanukkah because even though his wife is Christian, Jason Marquis is Jewish.

FAIR PAYMENT, A PENNY FOR THEIR THOUGHTS

South Carolina - Two South Carolina County Republican Party chairmen stepped up to rebut criticism of Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) in a newspaper editorial Sunday. But their defense of the senator might be overshadowed by their use of an anti-Semitic stereotype to praise him. After a Democratic state senator wrote in The State that DeMint didn't bring enough money back home, Bamberg County GOP Chairman Edwin Merwin and Orangeburg County GOP Chairman James Ulmer responded that he was just looking after the nation's pennies -- like a Jew would. "There is a saying that the Jews who are wealthy got that way not by watching dollars, but instead by taking care of the pennies and the dollars taking care of themselves," Ulmer and Merwin wrote in a joint letter published by The Times and Democrat. "By not using earmarks to fund projects for South Carolina and instead using actual bills, DeMint is watching our nation's pennies and trying to preserve our country's wealth and our economy's viability to give all an opportunity to succeed." "It's people like Ulmer and Merwin that make many folks fear for the future of the once Grand Ole Party," wrote the conservative Palmetto Scoop. But of course based on the tax cut sentiments of Mr. Ulmer and Mr. Merwin naturally Palmetto scoop and their Jewish readership will continue to support them.

We think its the perfect fiery for the far right Jew.

SOME SLIPPERY SLOPES IN ASPEN - NEWS ON JEWS AND FUN WITH NUNS

click here for the article Whats wrong with this story? There is a place in Aspen, CO called the Silver Lining Ranch that was supposed to be sold to Chabad of Aspen, the Jewish resource center. The ranch was founded by ex-tennis star and now nun Andrea Jaeger who has made this her lifes work. You see, the ranch gives terminally ill children a place to play happily and comfortably for their time left on this earth so they can feel like full humans. Due to economic hardships at her foundation she couldnt fund the operation, so she wanted to sell the ranch property to Rabbi Mendel Mintz (of Chabad) for $13.5 million in an agreement where both organizations would benefit from the 6.5 acre property. It would be renovated to be a Center for Jewish Life and simultaneously serve as a camp for the terminally ill children. Sounds like the happy ending to a 1930's movie of the star athlete nun and the enterprising rabbi working together. Somehow the local residents put such legal pressure on Chabad that they had to withdraw their offer. We at the Faux suspect that at a Chabad center for Jewish life there might be some Jews around the place. I mean, what gives it away? While these folks will deny it, this is clearly anti-Semitic. Chabad didnt want a multi-year court battle which would leave these ill children with nothing in the meantime. I would love to know to political background of the people who have stopped this "awful" union of an enterprising rabbi and a charitable nun. Those who read us regularly probably already know. ONE VERY HIP GOLFER

Tom Watson came within an eight iron, which probably should have been a nine iron, and almost won the British open. A 59 year old man, a couple months removed from 60, winning a major tournament is unfathomable. There’s no comparison for it, it can’t be done in any sport. If he had won this one he would have literally been the celebrity emperor of the world. But for one bad shot through the green, he subsequently lost. Stewart Cink certainly played well and deserved the playoff win, and we congratulate him for it. Not only is Tom Watson a classy guy, he’s a man who forced his country club to take on Jewish members when they wouldn’t by threatening to resign. He’s a man who spoke out when it would have been easy to just be the quiet good guy who just goes along with neglect and prejudice. But all that aside, Tom Watson played the British Open with 72 grueling holes plus a four hole playoff, and did it all with a hip replacement, making him as a golfer and a person, a very hip guy.

HUES AND VIEWS WITH JEWS

While meeting with Jewish leaders about his approach to the Arab-Israeli conflict, Barack Obama pointed out (and factually so) that the media reports his demands of Israel far more than they report his demands of the Arabs. We at the Faux think that’s absolutely okay, as it isn’t what the media reports that’s important, its what they are really doing. It also isn’t really that newsworthy that Barack Obama is meeting with Jews, as he ends every day by meeting with David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel to get his hues and views from Jews.

A Tennis Final You Can Love

Kudos to both William sisters, Venus and Serena, who played again at the finals in Wimbledon. These classy ladies will always be favs of Faux because they stood up for Shahar Peer in Dubai, because due to being an Israeli citizen she was denied the right to play. The William sisters recognized that prejudice against one group is prejudice against all, threatened to walk out and forfeit their pre-tournament guarantees. Ms. Peer said they need not due so, but it has already been arranged that she and other Israeli athletes will be able to play next year thanks to Venus and Serena, who are truly winners.

NIX-ON DENYING THESE ONES

The beauty of the Nixon tapes recently released is that they are his words, spoken by him, believed by him, and blatantly ignored by some of his devoted loyalists. One such disciple was Ronald Reagan as we find by the massacres. Nixon’s views on abortion being okay only if the fetus was bi-racial and his interesting remark about Jews “anti-semitism is stronger than you think, and will continue what happened in Germany…if these people don’t start behaving”. Jews are supposed to behave, and there are still Jews who like Nixon? Honestly, lets stop worshipping our oppressors.

SOME NOT-SO-ARTSY CRAFTSY

In his speech at Yad Vashem holocaust center in Jerusalem, the pope was trying to craft a message which did everything but cut to the heart of the matter. Namely, that the 6 million Jews were not killed by some natural tragedy, they were systematically tortured and destroyed by the nazis. Thats a very sad thing. Because if anti-communist Nixon could reach out to China, as the liberal President Clinton could reach out on welfare reform, and as Ronald Reagan could produce the earned income tax credit, they all were able to go against their stereotype. Members of the Hitler youth group were Nazi party members, who pursued with vigor their horrible task. The least he could have done would be to use the word "NAZI" (the party of the Hitler youth of which he was a member), when describing the perpetrators of this awful tragedy. It would not bring any of the dead back to life, but it would give those that survived a bit of a better pulse rate to hear that from the head of the Catholic church. But he worked around those words and was not so artsily crafty.

THAT JEW, WHO KNEW

US Senate candidate from Arkansas Kim Hendren recently decided to rally the party faithful with a statement that typically comes from Republicans (sometimes in public and sometimes more private). He reffered to Democratic Senator for NY Chuck Scumer as "that Jew". Mr. Hendren says he regrets usign the term at that meeting, well obviously...because that meeting was accessible. If this keeps up the Republicans will stay 9 short of a minyan for a whole lot longer.

With the departure of Sen. Arlen Specter and the imminent defeat of Norman Coleman in Minnesota, there is only one remaining Republican Jew in the congress (and none in the Senate) and that is Eric Cantor. If the Republicans really love the Jews so much (as the RWJ’s – Right Wing Jews falsely believe), why is there only one Republican Jew left in Washington? I mean really, they are still 9 short of a Minyan (a Jewish quorum of 10, required for communal prayer).

We have all heard about the swine flu outbreak which sadly this morning took the life of another human being (a 2 year old toddler from Texas), and we still don’t know how many will fall victim. In general however, the cases in the US have been much less lethal than in Mexico. We still have to be on guard, act with caution and increase our hygiene levels. A frind of mine recently pointed out that perhaps we should pay more attention to the dietary recommendations of our ancestors (and the Bible). GARDEN OF I’VE BEEN

NOW WRITING FROM ISRAEL We are walking through this wonderful garden in Tel Aviv, which I don’t know the name of so I am calling it the “Garden of I’ve Been”. There is a mini stone hedge here, but even more fascinating is this amazing cactus. The entire cactus which is almost 6 feet tall is smooth, you can really even touch it. But the little plants, the offspring coming out of it are so sharp it can rip you up. This makes me think of a smooth, relatively moderate parent with feisty kids. It’s the story of indulgent Jewish parents.

CAPPING A JOURNEY

NOW WRITING FROM ISRAEL It began 7 or 8 years ago when I bought a beautiful Yarmulka (Jewish head covering) at a craft show. The Yarmulka had a fancy design but it was the label that caught my eye. It was not made in China, Hong Kong or Taiwan, it was made in Jerusalem by a place called “Yad Lakashish”. Now I am here at this store and it is magnificent to behold; there are Mezuzas, Jewish woodworkings, banners, and that’s just only the “condiments”. The real nourishment here is the sense of purpose, the daily jobs and the sense of community that you feel. You see, the workers here are elderly people, and as you walk from place to place you see 70-90 people working happily on art embroidery and wood craftsmanship. It is amazing to think about the fact that this journey began so long ago with a tag on a Yarmulka and now continues to “cap” and “captivate” us. With so much of the merchandise that we buy in the US currently being made in China and Vietnam in a method that seems like slave labor, what we find in Israel is what seems like “liberating labor”.

ISRAEL, THE FACTS FACTOR

NOW WRITING FROM ISRAEL The incisive Roger Cohen pointed out recently that something that everyone needs to remember about Israel. And that is that they face a very difficult and potentially unholy trinity. Palestinians are eventually going to outpopulate the Jews.Palestinian population up 30 pct in a decade-census Because as fast as orthodox Jews procreate, it seems that EVERY Moslem family seeks that embryonic path. The current Prime Minister has backtracked regarding talks about having a Palestinian state. To have more Palestinians than Jews is current Israel, and to not allow them to vote and control government would be an apartheid state system. And really, if there is one thing that Israelis don’t want to do (other than violate democratic principles) its to make Jimmy Carter sound sage. But there is (as Ronald Reagan said) the “stubborness of numbers”, and Israel must face this fact and plan accordingly. And while a Moslem majority in Israel may not be an imminent problem for the next few years, it needs to be addressed now to avert a crisis in the future.
