NEWS SHOCKER; RIGHT WING REMARKS ON MEDICARE BASS ACKWARD

The right wing has actually gotten a fact wrong on the health care debate (who would have guessed?). According to the AARP, the Republican remarks that Medicare is going to be cut back in the Obama plan were either mistaken or deliberate lies. There are no recommended cuts in benefits, in fact according to AARP there are major increases in Medicare. Also, the so called "doughnut hole" will be filled and seniors will be able to buy drugs at cheaper prices. This is shocking; who could have thought the Republicans could have been so bass ackward on the health care debate? Could it happen a 2nd time?

THE VIRTUAL CONSCIENCE

Liz Cheney (Dicks daughter) recently complained about President Obama honoring the fallen soldiers by meeting their arrival at the air force base (this week 18 of then arrived). While there were cameras there, it was only after the President did a number of things that his predecessor never did. First, he checked with the soldiers families to find out what they wanted. Second, he chose to honor them as opposed to W whose respect was only virtual, never actual.

TRUST BUSTED

For 60 years the insurance companies have had an anti trust exemption. We at Faux News don't entirely understand all the nuances except that since they are backing out of some of their promises on health care reform at the 11th hour, President Obama in his radio address mentioned that they had gotten these anti trust exemptions for 60 years, and perhaps that should end. What is interesting about the insurance industry (among many things) is that they used to spend 95% of their budget on health care premiums and now they spend 80%. The rest is paid out in ever increasing bonuses while their clients have ever increasing struggles. As David Axelrod pointed out, 10 years ago the health insurance premiums were half of what they are now and 95% of their budget was spent on health care payouts. This has changed, and is a trust busted, and it may force the president to bust the trust. We have said before that our President has some very assassin like qualities. But the British government never minded James Bond because he was THEIR assassin.

TO PATRIOTISM THE RIGHTS OF YASSER

President Obama went to Denmark and attempted to persuade the Olympic committee to give the 2016 Olympics to Chicago. Alas, the feud between the world Olympic committee and the US still runs deep and for that and perhaps many other reasons even though the President did his best for his country, he failed to bring back the Olympics. Naturally, all patriotic Americans wished him well and feel let down for the country. Then there are the "Palestinian patriots" the Yasser Arafat's of the world who (as former Israeli Prime Minister said) hate others more than they love theor own. You want an example? Its on film all over the internet and cable. The right wing think tank called "Americans for prosperity" burst into wild applause when the news broke that Obama lost the bid for Chicago. If George Bush or Dick Cheney had tried to charm the Olympic committee they would have been all for it. So, are all patriotic Americans disappointed by the Olympics? We would say yes. These happy right wingers are just the Yasser patriots.

NOBEL PEACE/CONFLICT PRIZE

President Obama has won the Nobel peace prize for 2009, and given that 9 is about the number of months he has been in office...its quite a surprise. He certainly has changed the tenor of negotiations, and he certainly has goals that would more than qualify for such recognition. Commentator Bob Schieffer believes that this will ultimately cause Obama more grief, and allow the right wing to go nuts (something they never do...). As he receives the peace prize he will be ordering between 10,000 and 40,000 more troops into Afghanistan, a smart move as we have seen that these military surges have produced very tangible results in Iraq. Perhaps this is just Europe hating George W. Bush, perhaps this is some kind of emotional bribe (speaking of bribes, we did very well bribing leaders in Iraq) but in the meantime there will be conflict on the peace prize.

IT STICKERED IN MY MIND

On Cape Cod - the land of Obama sticker rock, where the President vacations on Martha’s vineyard – all the cars drive with windows closed tight. It is 95 degrees outside. Then came along one exception and the sticker that stuck. A rambling wreck of a car with windows open (probably because there was no a/c) and her McCain/Palin sticker on her bumber. It made me think; in this land of the well-to-do, this lady couldn’t afford an a/c for her car, which makes us assume she probably can’t afford health insurance either. We respect her right to vote her choice, but this sticker definitely stuck, as we wondered why she would choose that way. We hope she gets a/c sometime, and we hope she has health care all the time.

RATING THE APPROVAL RATINGS

How is the President doing? Well, 30% of American disapproves of him. Let’s look at these numbers according to the NBC poll. 48% of southerners disagree with him, 51% of men over age 50 disagree with him and 75% of white evangelicals (surprisingly) disagree with him. Sometimes you are judged by the quality of your opposition.

BROOKS BECOMES A TOWER OF BABBLE

Recently, NY Times columnist David Brooks commented on Rush Limbaugh’s diatribe comparing Obama and Pelosi to Hitler and the Nazis by calling it “absolutely insane”. We congratulate David for his very sane remark, but can you find me the election where Brooks and Limbaugh have not voted alike?

4 SCORE FOR HEALTH CARE

We have to hand it to the Obama administration. While the deadlines that Obama wanted for the healthcare plan to be voted into place were not met, there is a lot of senatorial and congressional discussion in the coming weeks and months. 4 health care bills have been voted on in 4 committees to help get us towards a serious resolution. That is more than in the whole previous generation. It seems that this is the first group of politicians that really truly recognizes the problem we face with the current health care system.

TAKING STOCK ON RACE; THE BEER MARKET

The cold beer summit at the white house featured President Obama, VP Biden, Prof. Gates and Sgt. Crowley. Obama had a Bud light which as Fluxnews (Fox) keeps pointing out has recently been purchased by a company in another country thereby showing Obama’s blatant non-patriotism. Sgt Crowley had a Blue Moon, Prof Gates had a Sam Adams light (showing his patriotism), and Mr. Biden doesn’t drink out of fear he will talk too much. While we think this may help race relations (or may not) it definitely doesn’t help fluxnews (Fox), who had to work really hard to find something wrong here. This was some guys getting together for beer, so let it go Fox news. Unlike the stock market we can’t even say it was a bull market as noone drank Red Bull so lets just cheer this beer market.

THE SOUR BREATH OF DEMINT

Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina is a true South Carolina patriot which is different than regular patriots (sadly enough). A S. Carolina patriot is for the President, as long as he is a Republican, they are for equality as long as you recognize the confederate flag over their capital, and in the case of Jim DeMint it means to hope that the Obama health care plan will be a waterloo and will “break him”. As Gail Collins of the NY Times recently pointed out, this “patriotic gentleman” in his last election campaign said that gay people and unmarried pregnant women should not be allowed to teach in public schools. This is just some of the sour breath of DeMint that is being fostered upon the public consciousness, and oh, we almost forgot…he is viewed as a leading Republican presidential candidate for 2012. We already miss Mark Sanford and Jim Ensign.

OBAMA’S WRONG SHOWS WHATS RIGHT

Barack Obama made a mistake in calling officer Crowley of the Cambridge police department stupid. He said this after stating that he didn’t know the facts and his description of the officer proved it. Here is what was also proven; President Obama is a real man. A real man will make mistakes but will admit them when they are made, and that’s exactly what Obama did by calling the officer to apologize. His wrong shows us whats right. Let’s revisit former President Bush for a moment who reminds us of the little boy fishing. He had been sitting on the dock for some time and someone approached him and asked “how many have you caught”? The boy responded “if I catch this one and the next one that will be 2”. Our former stubborner-in-chief will forever refuse to apologize for the many wrongs that he committed. Its nice to have a leader who can truly lead and look objectively not only at the country but also at himself.

MICHAEL STEELE, STILL WITHOUT METTLE

GOP chairman Michael Steele is at it again criticizing President Barack Obama’s health care plan as too much too soon. Too much is being worked out, but if 47 million Americans aren’t insured, that’s kind of like too little. As far as too soon, the system has been broken for forty years. We know one of the conservative’s dictums is: something should never be done for the first time. Maybe a fixed health care for the first time might be something the American people will like if they get to try it. But there will always be folks like Michael Steele, still without mettle.

While meeting with Jewish leaders about his approach to the Arab-Israeli conflict, Barack Obama pointed out (and factually so) that the media reports his demands of Israel far more than they report his demands of the Arabs. We at the Faux think that’s absolutely okay, as it isn’t what the media reports that’s important, its what they are really doing. It also isn’t really that newsworthy that Barack Obama is meeting with Jews, as he ends every day by meeting with David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel to get his hues and views from Jews.

SONIA SOTMAYOR, BOROUGHING INTO HISTORY

The Hearings on Sonia Sotomayor begin today regarding her nomination by Barack Obama as the Supreme Court Justice. All those in the know seem certain, without some Blockbuster revelation that she has consorted with aliens or in a previous life was a war criminal, that will shortly be confirmed. When she does so, she will be burroughing into history because she will be joined by Antonio Scalia, who is from Queens, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg who is from Brooklyn. Ms. Sotomayor is a native of the Bronx. That will be three New York boroughs represented out of nine Supreme Court Justices. Surely no city has done anything close. Surely she has “boroughed” her way into history.

VALUES VS. VALUABLES

Listening to President Obamas rhetoric we note that he actually lives his rhetoric. He IS a great father, he IS a great husband, he DOES believe in education, he DOES believe in personal responsibility. The way he spoke to audiences and minority parents and said “good hospitals and a good armed forces is my responsibility, but taking care of your kids…that’s all yours, I have my own to care for”. That’s a values president. Lets look at who Mr. Bush was beholden to; the oil interests, Haliburton, donors who could run hedge funds and not pay their fair share of taxes. Mr. Bush was a valuables president, his focus wasn’t on values it was on valuables.

THE REBEL WITH A PAUSE

Larry Summers (Obama’s economic adviser) keeps pointing out that the economy has recently been showing significant signs of improvement, and we are far less likely to face severe depression and total financial collapse than originally thought or predicted. Paul Krugman pointed out that this is not a recovery, only a “pause” in the recession, which is why we are now calling Krugman the “rebel with a pause”. He points out that industrial productivity is still falling, unemployment is still up and things are “getting worse more slowly”. With the constant debate raging between Krugman and the Obama team, we hope that this rebel is wrong about his pause, and if he is right we hope that the Obama people can swallow their pride and bring rebel Krugman on board.

POLITICAL HEALTH

As various morphs between Obama the candidate and Obama the President continue (something that incidentally has happened to the previous 43), we find the health care issue interestingly coming from the center of the aisle. This much the left hopes for and this much the right knows; if in any way, shape or form the Democrats manage to create a reasonable universal health care plan, it will no doubt change the election landscape for generations to come. It will increase the Democrats dominance on a scale that the Republicans don’t want to even imagine. The conservatives in this country are fretting over the prospect that Americas health might just come at the cost of their political health.

THE PRO SNIPING ARGUMENT

People of good will everywhere rejoice in the fact that the captain of the Mersk Alabama Richard Phillips was rescued by US forces from his pirate captors. Of the 4 pirates, 1 surrendered to get medical treatment and when the remaining 3 pointed an AK-47 at Captain Phillips, they were killed instantly by three snipers from the navy destroyer Bainbridge. While many will argue that the crew should have been armed in the first place (and that is a valid and legitimate argument), we see how proficient and professional these men are at what they do. On the other hand, the French just stormed the yacht without setting up a plan and planning their mission, and we see how that turned out (it resulted in one of the hostages being killed). They waved their guns wildly and failed in their rescue attempt. John Woodin is a famous basketball coach who is always mentioned around the NCAA championships (since he has the most NCAA victories of any coach in history). He was known to tell his players these famed words of advice “be quick, but don’t rush”. This was what the naval command at the authorization of President Obama did so efficiently; they were quick, but they didn’t rush…that’s why they are pros.
