A theory on why freakishly successful athletes tend to be more conservative and freakishly successful artists (actors etc.) tend to be more liberal; Athletes have a sense on entitlement because they have been so good for so long. From the time they were in the 6th grade they were the best anyone had ever seen. Whereas no one told a 10 year old Stephen Colbert and a 13 year old John Stewart and an 8 year old Barbara Streisand that they were going to be freakishly successful and renowned worldwide. For athletes success is no surprise, for entertainers success is the appreciation of surprise. |
