(((WE'RE NOT ALL THAT PREJUDICED)))

The alt-right while in their terms are just "not anti-Semitic", interestingly has a unique way of noting Jewish writers with whom they disagree with  the fascinating "triple parentheses”. This was well pointed out in the New York Times Sunday news of the week in review by an article on the alt-right by Christopher Caldwell when they use the following device regarding Jewish names just like (((this))). I get it ((((Mr. Trump)))).

LEAVING (THE EARTH) IN SMOKY PLACES

A recent study which is appearing in all the major news outlets said even someone who smokes one cigarette a day, (this is by the national Cancer institute apparently), as compared to non-smokers shows that those who who said they smoked but again had LESS THAN ONE cigarette a day have a 64% increased risk of early death from heart disease as well as cancer.

Melania's vision

How could we have missed the irony here, George W. Bush candidly admitted he virtually never read, and Laura Bush made her signature issue literacy. Barak Obama confessed he ate far far too many cheeseburgers and Michelle Obama made her name on (among many accomplishments) a state of the art vegetable garden. And now Ivanka  Trump has made a speech claiming as first lady she would work against the culture of "falsehoods or derisions" and bullying. Yes where would she be able to find a source of that......

Exception to the rule

Research shows without a doubt that both the George W. Bush administration and the Barack Obama administration would not hire anyone in the cabinet or other White House position who had problems with their tax returns INCLUDING not being willing to show them.

Some Americans, alas, plan to vote for an exception to that rule.

The Oracle vs The Donald

There is one (1) of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency decided separately from the rest of the state in Nebraska. Warren Buffett, "The Oracle of Omaha" is so determined that Donald Trump NOT BE our next president that he is personally volunteering to drive Democratic voters to the polls in that contested district.  Yeah yeah we know Donald, if he's so smart how come he's not rich?

Buffet Vs. Trump

Warren Buffett has issued a challenge to Donald Trump. It seems Mr. Buffett is under IRS audit but nonetheless he offered the meet the Donald and show each other's tax returns.
The unsettling thing about doing such a disclosure with Warren Buffett is his tax returns will show he actually IS really rich. How about it Fox business report, any thoughts, comments?

Does smart equal rich?

Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg and Michael Bloomberg and now, Mark Cuban have come out strongly for Hillary and just as strongly against Donald Trump. So if they're so "smart", how come they're not rich?

George Will responds to The Donald

George Will sent this response to Donald Trump for criticizing him for terminating his lifelong Republican party affiliation: Mr. Trump has the advantage over me, he can say everything he knows about any subject in 140 characters or less.

Brilliant.

True genius

The combined genius of the Republican party and the NRA has suddenly become apparent during the latest gun debate. This fact is backed up by law enforcement agencies: unless you're a trained professional, guns in your house are more likely to be used against you as opposed to effectively defend you. Since it's obvious by Mr Trump's remarks the emnity he feels for Muslims in general by letting the most dangerous ones in, anyone who is or has ever been on terrorist watchlist they are way more likely to shoot themselves.

Trump's economic plans aren't racist

There is less, in fact much less, racism in Donald trumps economic plans than people may think. He's going to f**k up the lives and finances of middle and lower income folks of ALL races and creeds. An equal opportunity destroyer.

What President Trump Should do

Here's what we should hope a Donald Trump presidency would accomplish:
1) Unemployment would be cut in half
2) The number of uninsured Americans would be cut in half
3) As a result of this plus more information and more contraceptives available, teen pregnancies would hit historical lows
4) The Dow Jones would be up by over 250%
5)The annual federal budget deficit would be cut by 70%
6) Inflation would be at a historic low
7) Our domestic auto industry would be booming
8) Clean energy to America would be doubled
9) Two thirds of the Taliban and Isis high command would be killed
10) And when President Trump says don't you wish Obama had done this, some honest reporter, who knows - maybe even someone from FOX News - will say WAIT....that's exactly what he did do.

A good lesson

In crucial personal or business situations, telling someone 10 things they may not need to know, is far far better than not telling them one thing they do need to know.

Rocky

60 years ago Rocky Marciano, the undefeated heavyweight champion in history with a record of 49 and 0, with 43 knockouts. Rocky is such a great name for a fighter and has been used many times since, in reality and fiction. But he was the one the true and the original Rocky.

Bibi, please speak up!!!

Previously Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not hesitated to give his opinions on American elections, and I guess that's his right. Now maybe he could be a moral good for America in the process, and while he may or may not agree with presidential candidate Ted Cruz's plan to watch Muslim neighborhoods of Muslim Americans in America, there is something on which he and I hopefully would certainly agree. And that is, since Israel has by public policy renounced torture, he might just comment on the suggestions by both major Republican candidates that such is the course they would follow as commander-in-chief, and personally recommend they not.

Super Tuesday!!!

It's Super Tuesday, and the most super of them all for Republicans are in Ohio and Florida where under the new rules the winners take all. Many of these voters claim to be deeply religious and believe in messages from above, so maybe they should think about this message received right here on earth. In Ohio they are having tornadoes at the earliest part of the year and in Florida, which is always hot it's almost 90 degrees. And it's just mid March....

Yay police!!!

On Wednesday, March 9, the following episode actually happened at a Trump rally; A black man had been protesting, and was being escorted from the premises and he was going peacefully. A white, I assume angry man, sucker punched him, while he was in police custody. Police jumped in arresting no not the white guy who committed the assault, but the black man who got punched. Eventually the videos showed the guilty party and since the police didn't shoot the unarmed black man they are in line for awards.

Black history month

February each year is both Black history month, and also the shortest month of the year. What  most Americans are surprised to learn (to hear the strident Republican reaction to the replacement of justice Antonin Scalia) is that black presidential terms are shorter as well, in that they seem to be insisting that Mr. Obama is not allowed a full four years to do his constitutional presidential duty of nominating Supreme Court justices. And when they say, "let's decide it by an election", newsflash; we already did. President Obama was elected by a combined 13 million votes in his two elections, compared to George W. Bush who's plurality was a little under 3 million in his two terms.

Some Republican Math

Watching the Republican debate, and what Paul Krugman calls their "Time Loop" approach to everything being about taxes and many of their personal pronouncements to be to fight "wealth redistribution", you can't help but remember when Bill Clinton raised taxes just a little bit on high incomes and....we had the best economy in the last half-century. And the stock market went up 300%, so let the saying go forth "A tea party Republican is someone who thinks with his taxes go down by 2% and his stock portfolio goes down by more than 35% he came out ahead."

Our reference point is the stock market under a Bill Clinton presidency vs that of George W. Bush.

Sloppy Paper Work

Yesterday in LA the ultimate argument for paper organization was made. It seems when you buy a winning lottery ticket in CA you have 180 days to claim your prize, unlike in CT where you have a year. Well, last August some guy or gal bought a ticket, never turned it in, and it expired at 5:00pm yesterday. We would have thought the store owner would have used his security camera to track the winner, as gets a cut as well. Oh, the amount the winner lost through sloppy paper work? 63 million. Ouch.

To be or not to be

I think one definition of important people in our lives, personal and public, is that they give us lessons on how to live. Keep in mind these lessons can be what "to be" and....every bit as important what "not to be".

A Lesson for Jews

Yesterday, January 27 was Holocaust remembrance day, noted in ceremonies  worldwide, as it is now and should always be. To make the words "never again" that much more resonant, we must stay vigilant against prejudice to Jews and..by Jews; there's no other way.

60 Minutes, Be Brave!

I was very disappointed in the 60 minutes presentation of their segment on the health wagons last night. What these people do is obviously wonderful work but the've gotten uncharacteristically timid. By their own estimate  at least 40% of the governors in our country have denied these people potential life saving preemptive healthcare, so it would seem three questions to each of these unfortunate folks would be in order. Do you vote? Did you vote for the governor who denied you medical care? Finally, would you do it again? What I've always respected most about 60 Minutes is that they've been brave, please don't stop now.

Donald Trump vs. Bill Clinton

When Bill Clinton was president, America was his shareholders and their portfolios (the stock market and their 401Ks) were up over 200%. We bet that Donald Trump's shareholders wish they did half as well.

The Faux News Network Principles

A) We distort, you abide
B) Or we retort if you deride, unless we choose not to
C) Complete sentences are acceptable in lieu of complete truths
D) It’s OK to criticize the 2006 Democratic Congress for all America’s problems since 2001
E) We shoot from the flip
F) We’re not always accurate but we’re always certain
G) On what we feel is wrong in this world, we can’t stop people from saying I don’t agree or I don’t care, but we won’t let them say I didn’t know
H) The director’s board has a whim of irony
I) In times of emergency, we should rally around our President: In times of democracy he should do the same for us
J) We proudly plagiarize in advance, examples available upon request
K) It’s easy to be fun-based when you’re fact based
L) Good news parody makes for good news parity
M) And, of course, our goal is and always will be to be the most trusted name in Faux News
